I bought for myself some tapes on trick training your birds.  They have some good ideas.  It’s nice to see someone training their parrot and then use those methods on your own.  Anyway, I’ve started working with Pascal on “turn around”.  It’s going well so far.

Pascal unfortunately hasn’t been saying hello as much.  I was afraid that would happen if we got another bird.  I still am making sure he has quiet time with me at night and we have the training time now, so I hope he’ll get settled back into the routine soon.  I have to say that my week vacation at the end of last month kind of messed the birds up.  African Greys like routine and it was sure anything goes for that week, including being out of the cages most of the day.

Dave says that Peanut said hello today.  I was upstairs folding laundry and didn’t hear it.  He does make more and more noises.  I was really surpised this weekend how much the two birds vocalize back and forth.  I think each has taught the other at least one new whistle.  He’s been pretty gentle to us.  We can touch his beak, but he still doesn’t want to be otherwise touched.  He seems to really enjoy being misted. (Pascal hates it!)  Dave said “step up” to him and one time he actually lifted a foot, although he wouldn’t step on his hand.  I couldn’t believe it!
