Peanut had no idea what he was getting into when we took him in!   Well, I wonder if it even mattered to him since he has such a bad opinion of people (and rightly so).

He has been getting lots and lots of attention from all of us.  We speak to him a lot.  He has some very nice whistles although it doesn’t seem that he has any words.  We let him out of his cage each evening when we get home from work and he’s allowed out until bed time.   He seems to really appreciate being allowed out of his cage.   He still hasn’t really caught ono the “night-night” routine to go back into his cage yet, but it hasn’t been very long.  Sometimes on the weekends when he’s allowed out all day, I find him staring out the window.   What a different life compared to being kept in a closet–I can’t imagine what he’s been through.  He has started taking food from our hands and is quite gentle about it for the most part.  His favorite is peanuts, but we offer part of what we’re eating to him and Pascal.  We still can’t touch him yet and trying to touch her does bring out the growls.

I never expected so much progress so quickly.  I hope it continues.  Even if he doesn’t make any more progress, we have at least created a “liveable” situation for him to be with us and he’s getting the care he needs.   We’re all glad that we gave Peanut a chance to be part of our family.
