My Thoughts

I’ve found that I really enjoy David Alderton’s books.  He writes clearly and includes good information.

This is rather an ambitious task to make an encyclopedia of birds and have it fit in a reasonable sized book.  I wish that sections listing the birds had photographs instead of drawing.  The drawings were very nicely done, but it’s not the same as a photo.  There were also many birds on pages in a sidebar with just a description and no drawing or photo.

I did enjoy the chapters in the end, which were general topics such as evolution of birds, different habitats, etc.

It’s a fun book to browse through.
