  • My Thoughts

This book is a good beginners guide to keeping doves. It has some guidelines on picking a healthy dove that were good, as well as general information on caging, behavior and illness. If you’ve read any other bird care book, however, you probably won’t learn that much on these topics.

This book really fell short in regard to its coverage of different species. There was a brief description of some of the common and less common species, but sadly not each species had photos. In the chapter regarding breeding, it again was lacking species related information (clutch size, incubation days, fledge days, etc) and just included generic ranges of days that wasn’t overly helpful.

So, although this is titled the “Complete Pet Owner’s Manual”, I still found myself searching on the internet for information on my common species of doves.
